Right place, right time...in England, no less

is there a better case of "right place, right time (and right people)" than that of legendary (and i use that term loosely) drummer ringo starr?

this guy was the second drummer the beatles snared, and plays the easiest riffs and fills that i have ever heard. don't get me wrong, he takes nothing away from the beatles or my enjoyment in listening to them, but he's average at best.

how lucky can someone be? sheesh...

any other cases - please share.

Well what a great topic you bring up!! Being a drummer and I have always lived by the less is more. However, in Ringo Starrs case not playing ever would be more. It kills me how sloppy he played and it wasn't an era thing cause there were plenty of really quality drummers. I think if the truth be known the beattles had too much other tallent and knew it didn't matter as long as he could keep some sort of time. They would support his efforts.

So in short "right place, right time" NO DOUBT :) Great topic Puffy
